Quinternia is the fictional world and setting for multiple homebrew Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. First created by Room 101 Productions in 2015, it has been the site of multiple campaigns run by multiple Game Masters, with shared lore and continuity.
Room 101 Productions is a small conceit denoting campaigns run and created by Dungeon Master Jonathan Timmermann. It is both a reference to Orwell’s 1984 and an apartment number he shared with friend and long-time gaming collaborator Jason Eberlin for multiple years.
(4E, Fall ’09 – Winter ’12-’13)
While technically preceding the creation of Quinternia, the finale of this dark, long-running, steampunk-themed campaign provided the origins of the Bright Empire in the Quinternia setting.
(5E, Spring 2015 – Winter 16’-17’)
The first official Quinternia game and the origin of the setting. Conceived originally as a parody campaign poking fun at classic gaming tropes, the name Quinternia denotes its status as the first Room 101 Productions game run in 5th Edition. It began with characters participating in an annual loot race, and ended with the Reordinance of St. Dumon, the slaying of the Great Devourer, and the casting down of Principius Maximus, corrupt diety of law, with multiple player characters reaching apotheosis and joining the Quinternian pantheon.
(5E, Winter ’19 – Fall ’21)
The largest Quinternia campaign to date, it chronicled the events of the Second Eidolon War, more than a millennium after the events of Welcome to the Mistvales. The campaign started with players as members of the Reclamation, a group effort from the surviving Mistvales to push back out into the world and reclaim it after a terrible Deluge wiped out ninety percent of civilization on Quinternia. Eventually, it followed three major adventuring groups: the Fangs of Quinternia, the Scales of Vengeance, and Radiant Aegis, as they combined efforts, gathered allied nations, and wielded the power of the Eidolons to repair the fabric of the multiverse around Quinternia.
(5E, Fall ’21 – Spring ’22)
The continuing adventures of Radiant Aegis after the end of the Second Eidolon War, including the arrival of a new moon in the sky and the Astral Elves, the fall of the great red wyrm of the Mistvales, Pyroclandaxan, and the rescuing of one of their own’s lost soul from the shade of a former death deity, with two player characters joining the Quinternian Pantheon, and another well on his way.
(5E, Spring ’22 – Present)
After millennia closed off from the rest of the Prime Material Plane, freebooters from a waylaid Spelljammer seek refuge on Quinternia, bringing the mythical Spelljammer artifice to the fifth planet of Quintespace for the first time. Spacers and groundlings alike take to the stars for an epic tour around the cosmos, finding oddly familiar and bizarrely strange creatures and happenings all at once. 50 years after the Eidolon War, the next generation of heroes has to make out Quinternia's place in a much wider multiverse.
(5.5E – TBD)
Metaphysical repercussions of the Second Eidolon War lead the Quinternian Pantheon to direct their followers against the cults of new, interloper deities non-native to Quinternia, a conflict which threatens to spill out into the greater multiverse.
