This community of mostly elves was sheltered from the Deluge by grace of geography. Spread out in the high forests to the east of Pyroclasm Peak, the people of Elembar has been closely aligned with the druidic Circle of Circles since before the Age of the Mistvales.
After the Deluge, Elembar was defended from domination by the red wyrm Pyroclandaxan once again - by geography. The high forests were fruitful enough to feed and shelter the elves - who complemented careful hunting and gathering practices with central gardens. The thickly forested, rocky terrain didn't make for easy farmland, and the red wyrm was ultimately too lazy - the more suitable farmland surrounding Cinderton required much less effort to work, and the much larger populace could be more effectively extorted into service. In the Drowned Age that followed the Deluge, Elembar thrived, but due to the community being almost entirely elven it only grew modestly, spreading out over the next three hundred years.
The community is not terribly devoted to the Pantheon. There are many residents that witnessed the Deluge and recall no warning from the gods and no divine interventions to save those in the lower lands. Since that flood, zeal cooled. Prayers and sacrifices are still made to many gods of the Pantheon - particularly Laurelethe, The Almsfather, Rhapsodie, Thinwe Celeb'nelidel, and recently Waldan O'th Woods, but few have the capacity of faith to harness divine magics from the gods.
The traditions of primal, druidic magic have fared better. Most of the elves have family or friends that joined or served the Circle of Circles, and visit their home or have returned to set down roots in Elembar. The people regularly leave gifts for the local fey, and sometimes receive favors in return. While there isn't in any real sense prayer to Titania or other Seelie-aligned archfey, they have little fear of them, and there are several individuals that have developed arcane power because of their relationships to the Courts of Spring and Summer.
Many of Elembar develop a curiosity and talent for learned arcane magic, but most learn from older wizards in the community - still, there are many that seek the greater resources of the Arcanum in their studies.
Most of the people have volunteered to aid in patrols of the region. Those that serve directly on patrols are away from their homes for weeks, and learn weapon and survival skills from more veteran members. There are some with more mastery of martial skills scattered around Elembar that take in apprentices, passing on maneuvers and techniques to newer generations.
Elembar has the population of a small city, but spread out over a much larger area. Families tend to live close to each other, but also members also move often, with some setting out farther to build near a favorite feature of the land, expanding to meet their needs and the needs of their neighbors. Children are raised my their local community - uncles, aunts, grandparents and old friends of the parents frequently take in, look after, and teach young children for hours, days, or weeks at a time. Post and messages travel easily among the familial stems and small branches of the community. These stems often discuss and decide their needs and concerns, but when Elembar needs to act with more unity, all who live in the forest are invited to debate and cast their vote on how to move forward. Not everyone attends, but almost all have friends or family that do, and are asked to speak for them.
